Enabling Password Recovery

If you have forgotten your Printer Installer user account password you can reset the password by configuring Printer Installer to use an email account you control to send an email to the "Password Recovery Email" address of the user.

Once you do the below steps the "Forgot Password" link will be enabled on the login dialog, allowing you to click the link. When you click the link you will be prompted to enter the email address of a Printer Installer user and it will then send an email to the email address you specify in the dialog. The email will contain a link allowing you to change the current user password.

To configure Printer Installer to send password recovery emails with an email account you control, do the following:

  1. Make a backup copy of c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\config\settings.php
  2. Open the  c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\config\settings.php file with notepad.
  3. Find the "SMTP Setup" section of the file.
  4. Enter the  SMTP Host that will be used to send the email in the GLOBALS::$SMTPHOST= ""; like this:
    GLOBALS::$SMTPHOST= "smtp.gmail.com";
  5. Enter the  SMTP Username that will be used to send the email in the GLOBALS::$SMTPUSERNAME= ""; like this:
    GLOBALS::$SMTPUSERNAME= "example@gmail.com";
  6. Enter the  SMTP password that will be used to send the email in the GLOBALS::$SMTPPASSWORD= ""; like this:
    GLOBALS::$SMTPPASSWORD= "gmailaccountpassword";

    The SMTP Setup sections should now look like:

    * SMTP Setup
    GLOBALS::$SMTPHOST=       "smtp.gmail.com";
    GLOBALS::$SMTPPORT=       465;
    GLOBALS::$SMTPHELO=       "";
    GLOBALS::$SMTPSECURE=     "ssl";
    GLOBALS::$SMTPAUTH=       "true";
    GLOBALS::$SMTPUSERNAME=   "example@gmail.com";
    GLOBALS::$SMTPPASSWORD=   "gmailaccountpassword";

  7. Save the file without changing the file name or extension.
  8. The "Forgot Password" link will now be enabled on the login dialog.
