Use the Tools > Settings > General page to change the following options:

Operating Systems Supported

In the "Operating Systems Supported" section you can choose the operating systems that you want to support. If an operating system is disabled it will not be listed in the driver repository table column titles or as an available operating system in the printer’s "Driver/Profile" tab.


Specify a workstation to be the cache manager.   See Managing Caching for more information.


Use the protocol settings to determine the protocol to use when accessing the Printer Installer Administrator or Printer Installer Portal pages.  To change the settings to require Printer Installer Administrator to use HTTPS, you must do the following:

  1. Enable the website to use SSL in IIS.
  2. Change the Administrator URL in the browser to https://YourPrinterInstallerURL/admin.
  3. Change the Protocol option to "HTTPS Only".

Server Mode

This modifies various functions of the server and client to optimize performance and behavior when Printer Installer is only being used to keep multiple Epic print servers in sync. This can significantly reduce the time it takes for Printer Installer clients running on Epic print servers to check in and update printer settings.

LDAP Authentication

Settings that allow you to use Active Directory integration.

Custom Printer Fields

When enabled, this option will allow you to add an additional line to the "General" tab of the printer object, which will allow you to display additional information about the printer. The custom field options are:

SNMP Status Defaults

When enabled, this option will allow you to monitor your printers via SNMP.

SNMP Status Options

Refresh Interval (minutes): Set how often the SNMP report will refresh in minutes.
