Create Profile

Creating Printer Profiles

There are two ways to add profiles:

Method #1: Create printer profiles using the Driver/Profile Repository page

Do the following steps to add a printer profile in the Driver/Profile Repository:
  1. In the tree, click on Tools > Driver/Profile Repository .
  2. Select a driver and click on the Add Profile button.  The "Add Driver Profile" dialog box will open and load a printer profile.
  3. Configure the printer settings as desired and click OK.
  4. The "Add Driver Profile" dialog box will be updated with the current Last Updated: timestamp value, edit the Profile Name with a short description of the profile, and then click in the Comments text box and add any desired comments to describe the device settings and preferences set in the profile. Click Apply.

Important:

  • Do not change the temporary printer's name, location, or comment fields, as this can cause errors uploading the profile settings into the database.
  • Settings in the "Security" tab of a printer profile are not stored in the profile.
  • Settings in the "Advanced" tab, "Printing Defaults..." dialog are not stored in the profile. Use the "General" tab, "Printing Preferences..." dialog to set the exact same settings and have them stored in the profile.
  • Settings in the "Sharing" tab are not stored in the printer profile.
  • Settings in the "Ports" tab are not stored in the printer profile.
  • If you create a profile for a printer from the driver / profile repository, an IP address of 127.0.0.1 will be used when the printer properties dialog is shown. If the driver auto-configuration is desired or necessary to create the profile, create the profile from a printer's drivers/profile tab and the printer's IP address will be used to show the printer properties dialog and communication with the printer will occur. This is useful when using Xerox global drivers.

Method #2: Create printer profiles in a printer object's "Drivers/Profiles" tab

Do the following steps to add a printer using a printer "Drivers/Profiles" tab:
  1. Click on a printer in the tree, and then select the Drivers/Profiles tab.
  2. Make sure a driver is selected for the operating system and click the Add button above the "Profile" drop down box.
  5. Click the Save button in the upper right corner to save the profile association.
